I am proud of having survived moving to USA right after HS. I am proud of finishing college, even though many times I just wanted to call it quits and walk away. I am proud that many years ago I asked out the girl who by this time next year will be my wife . I am proud of the good job we had done training Lucy, and in general, I am proud of the life I live...

Engineers who design big products for apple, microsoft.. james dyson are always celebrated. There are so many other products who you have no idea who made that. If your a mechanic at a dealer (especially honda, bmw, or VW), you'll probably see one of these. I designed everything but the electronics, and it also has design patents.

A couple years ago I decided to try my hand at a modular, origami peacock. It took me 40 hours over a period of a month. Contained over 1300 individually folded strips of paper, a bottle of glue, some odds and ends and almost a whole box of bandaids. It's one of the most elaborate creations I have ever made and eventually it was sold for $100 to a lady who wanted it for her home. But before that I was able to appear in my local newspaper, a regional living magazine, a couple international blogs and a French magazine. All in all a lot of fun for a simple paper sculpture. If you would like to read the article you can see it online here. http://www.elberton.net/~wpb30635/Peacock/peacock.htm

@kellydna: Sorry! I'm usually a law-abiding British gentleman, I just appear louche and rakish, and one guinness inevitably leads to another which leads to a last train home dash to the platform with half-consumed pint in hand. I normally return them to the bar after they get all scratched and dull from my repeated washings.

@leopicado: I like your definition. I think what really happened is my friend hid it under the table after @a_noob waxed lyrical about the glass' apparently incomparable qualities. At some later, more drunken part of the evening, I think I slipped it in my purse just to prove it could fit. It was a lovely surprise the next morning!

Shameless self-promotion. I got into making jewelry awhile ago, and finally put some of it online. The site's been up for about a month and I've made 29 sales, so I'd say it's going well. Yeah, I don't have offspring or a partner to dote on, so I'll show you the home version of the work bookshelf that you saw last month. These are all the books I've written, designed, and produced over the years for my job. I don't really think about it because it's part of what I do every day, but other people get excited about it (like my mother), and I guess it is kind of neat to know that I'm in the Library of Congress. The books are for elementary school libraries and have such scintillating titles as "Let's Count Coins," "It Is Cloudy," and "The Sheep Is Asleep."

It depends. The publisher we work for puts these books out in series of at least six, sometimes more. One person isn't always the sole author within a series. As a collective, we do maybe six to eight series per half-year season. I always design, but haven't written for about a year. However, the year preceding, I wrote the 12 Baby Mammals books (blue) followed immediately by 12 Baby African Animals (orange) for 24 in one year (and then only one Baby Australian Animals (green)). Currently, I'm supposed to be getting going on six Super Simple Science Projects books.

This is great. I started to work on a Masters, but only managed an Associates degree after my BA. Every now and then I have a vague thought of pursuing one …

My masters is in Education - Instructional Systems. I'm a corporate trainer and went to school to learn how to teach know-it-all adults. :)

This is so funny...no I mean I'm happy for you, it's just that I started crocheting an afghan when I was pregnant and got it to about 2 1/2' X 6' and quit. My daughter is 21 now. Glad you finished yours.

great job! I start many, finish few. I finished one for my son right before he was born, started one for each of his sisters and never got much done :(

They seem like very nice kids. People even. Indeed you must be proud of them. Having thought about this today I think I have decided that the quality of our lives can be measured by the quality of our relationships. Maybe the people around us should be the thing to make us most proud. Blimey, I'm turning into a... a... I don't know.

I'm quite proud of myself for having snagged this handsome young fellow, not to mention my ability to keep him happy even at a great distance. I'm also insanely proud of him. He's brilliant of course, but he also works hard and has achieved some impressive things in his work life. So... in sum, I'm proud to be with him, I'm proud of him, and he makes me so happy I find myself beaming at random points in the day for no other discernible reason.

You two do amaze me. Frankly. Looking at this photo you really look like you were quite literally made for one another. I'm honestly not generally given to outbursts like that but it's true. It's as if apart you're both (I gather) very lovely people but together you're more than you could possibly be alone. Goodness, I've never even met either of you so I can hardly talk but there it is. Okay, that's my piece. Back to work.

There are not words to express how warm and fuzzy you two look with/about each other. And if there are, they should probably stay private between the two of you!

I'm unsure of exactly what pride is and why I might or should feel it. I guess I'm proud of finishing my Masters degree recently and getting a distinction, which I worked stupidly hard for. It's complicated by different things, though. The work I did for it isn't as good as I'd like. That kind of thing. I have nothing of which I can be as purely proud as young (or adult) children. I have some good friends but pride doesn't feel like the right word there somehow. Erm.

you should be proud of your ability to channel your psyche through me... making my possessed hands type your will... using me as a meat puppet for your megalomaniac whims.
you should also be proud of your ability to swim the channel in under 18 hours... not many people can do that.Oct 21, 2009 03:08 by coco-tidan. -

You should be proud for having wielded that massive knife the other day (see 'Zombie Apocalypse' mission on 19th Oct) - I think that took enormous strength and determination.

@thetrustyyak: the knife sat in my hand and felt as light as the conscience of the first unicorn. I held it aloft with joy in my heart and the weight made no impression on my muscles. I then swiftly put it down, realising the implications.
