Not my picture since I don't have the ingredients for it today, and it's not exactly a full meal, but in college my roommate's dad made this amazing strawberry salad, so I got the recipe and have since made it tons of times. It was a huge hit at my husband's graduation party, and since then his family has used it at baby showers, etc, and refers to it as my strawberry salad.

My only change is throwing in toasted almonds instead of onions. The almond flavor with the dressing and strawberries is really tasty.

Or the short version, it's fruity dessert. I suck at making fruit pies but can make a mean cobbler for some reason.

I looked it up on wiki, I got really curious. So this is the long version of the explanation:
Cobbler is a traditional dish in both the United States and the United Kingdom, although the meaning of the term is quite different in each country. In the United States, it is usually a dessert consisting of a fruit filling poured into a large baking dish over a batter that rises through when baking. The batter forms as a dumpling within the cobbler as well as a crust for the top. In the United Kingdom it is usually a savoury meat dish, typically a lamb casserole, which is covered with a savoury scone-like topping—each scone (or biscuit) forming a separable cobbler. Fruit-based versions are also increasingly popular in the United Kingdom—although they still retain the separate cobbler (or biscuit) topping of the meat version—and savoury or meat versions are not unknown in the United States.Oct 04, 2009 18:07 by x-u. -

Three of my favorite things, combined. Then do you melt the cheese? I'll have to see if I can find "unadultered" beans, though personally, I don't mind a bit of bacon.

@kellydna: there is something about heinz that's different. I always think you can't microwave them either. The sauce is thicker if you pan heat them. Would have bacon too but I'm vegetarian so that's a no no. I can never be bothered to melt the cheese. i want to eat by that point.

This is slightly controversial, but spread some Marmite (not sure of the US equivalent - it's yeast extract, like Vegemite) on the toast before spooning on the beans. It tastes amazing.

Got some beans, but alas, they're merely "vegetarian" baked beans, so they're still in the sugary, sweet sauce rather than plain tomato sauce.

@rabbitdan - it does though (look tasty), and it's something I'd never think to do with baked beans, so it's something to keep in mind as well, for variety. I like these food tweaks even though they make me hungry, they give me ideas for additional ways to use foods I may have (leftover and otherwise)
