Allergic to Pineapple, which sucks for someone who loves tropical drinks. Luckily the reaction is very minor, so when my health is good piña-coladas become dear friends. What really makes me miserably allergic is pollen, and thanks to living in the South, antihistamine products are household staples.

Funny story. 12th grade English class my teacher decided the oil I was wearing wasn't "manly" enough. So he decided to put his Grey Flannel on me. Long story short I spent the rest of the day making people's eye's bleed.

That's what happened to me and coffee. Don't think It's an allergy, but would drink it all the time, then one day I started puking when I drank it. It was sad. But probably for the best. I can't even sip it, i get nauseated.

@discomeg2 I agree about it not being what's normally though of as an allergy. Had a friend who OD'd on steamed shrimp. The doctor told him he'd have to lay off them for at least a year and then try again. I'd get so sick off of avocado, I'm afraid to try them.

grass (sneezing, rash), rhododendrons (eyes swell shut), oak (eye swelling, sneezing), herbal essence and biloage products (hives), perfume (rash), cinnamon (mouth sores), salicylic acid (in most face cleansers, bad rash), beef (not allergic, I lack the enzyme to digest it properly and it makes me ill) and band-aid adhesive (makes a terrible itchy nasty rash in the shape of a bandaid, worse than the wound usually). I'm a mess! There used to be more but I've outgrown some with age.

Any form of Monosodium Glutamate, aka Free Glutamic Acid. This will activate my atrial fibrilation and my ventricular tachycardia, and a host of other problems. I thought I was allergic to milk for the longest time, but it turns out that it's the free glutamic acid in it which is created naturally (but is still dangerous for me). Most people are sensitive to it and it builds up slowly and people slowly become more obese, or other symptoms, but for me, the reaction is immediate.

I know someone who is allergic to shell fish to the point that she can't even be near anyone if they're cracking open a crab leg. She has to be very careful about where she eats, too. It's almost as bad as the peanut thing- if something's been cooked even close enough to peanut oil, their throat begins to swell.

It wasn't enough to be trapped in the hospital for two weeks with periorbital cellulitis, one of the antibiotics intended to stave off the peptostreptococcus anaerobes decided to inflict a full body rash on me. It is this antibiotic Rocephin, or apparently "Ceftriaxone", to which I am allergic.
What with the pity and the fancy names I learned, 13 year-old me LOVED telling that story to anyone who would listen.Dec 04, 2009 08:21 by merendis-

@athanie: where as the normal one would have broken and sloppy deck chair, the deluxe would have an original eames or corbusier lounger... the normal would have a sony tape deck and radio that could never find a clear reception whilst the deluxe model boasts a hand built naim audio surround sound system... In the standard bubble you get prince consort vodka with top budget orange juice (made from concentrate) and stale potato chips with indistinguishable fluffy bits, in the deluxe you get mojitos, caipirinhas, finely brewed ales and a personally crafted taster menu from the el bulli restaurant in northern spain. and yes it is a bubble with a bubble cockpit )the normal one just has a dirty porthole that you can't see anything through)
