Trying to get stuff "just perfect".
I've a bad habit of getting something to a satisfactory standard quite quickly but then spending an eternity trying to make it just that bit better. Doesn't matter if it's work or home related... I still do it.I'm a perfectionist ... there, I've said it .... I AM a perfectionist and it really does waste a LOT of time. (took 3 hours to write this ... kidding!)

@rabbitdan: I was talking to a friend recently about the quote: "The work you do while you procrastinate is probably the work you should be doing for the rest of your life.” And the "work" I do while procrastinating is this. :(

@deebelievesinyou: The glory of the modern world. I wonder what most people would do with their lives if that quote were true. We'd have a lot of professional xBox players, Tetris experts and so on. Would there then be new modes of procrastination to distract from the xBox?

I thought iSlate was a really bad name...but its growing on me. iPad is another rumour. Its pretty clear its iPhone OS 4...and we are thinking lots of HTML5 in the rendering of things like digital magazines. I hope this isn't a disappointing launch...some epople predict an anti-climax, others that this is "game changing". Many publishers are hoping for the latter and for the tablet to show them the way to rejuvenate the publishing/magazine industry.

Hm, this may seem odd, but I don't think I waste my time. I mean sure, most of the stuff I do isn't productive, but I don't think I'm wasting my lifespan on them either. I enjoy my random obsessions and hobbies. When I'm doing them, I don't think of my time as being wasted. The only time I'd think that is when I'm thinking about time. Does this make any sense?

Works is a waste, because there is so much more "fun" stuff to do. I love to sleep, yet sleep is a waste, because there is so much more to just "do". Eating is definitely a waste of time, no matter what, but I fixed that by usually watching stuff I recorded on my dvr (best invention of the previous decade) while I eat. The one thing I actually spend the most time on lately, which might be a waste to some, but isn't really to me, is Oblivion, on my Xbox 360. Gotta love escaping to an alternative reality/realm of fantasy :)

I liked Oblivion, but I really, really like Dragon Age Origins even more. You get a much greater sense that your decisions affect the progression of the story- sort of like Fable, but without such an overt good/evil binary. Also the npc reactions to you differ depending on what race/class combination you choose making it harder or easier to do some quests. I wish I had more time for it.

I'm also a fan of TV show marathons. There's something about the episodic nature that I've been liking a lot more than movies. There's much more plot involved with a 26 episode series vs. a 2 hour movie. Much more entertaining, assuming it's a good show.

This sounds familiar. Worrying certainly is a waste of time, because it hardly ever actually solves anything. But worrying seems to come naturally for so many people, myself included. Now if I could take all that time and put it good use, I might actually get more sleep.

I'm a big fan of downloading season off iTunes, then watching on my iPod at night. My husband goes to bed earlier than I do and I like to watch TV before bed. Unfortunately, I tend to watch shows like Dexter, Damages, Breaking Bad ... doesn't make for good dreams. :)

I usually record Fringe on my dvr (yay dvr's!) and watch it during dinner. I don't watch anything "real time" but record, watch from dvd, or download. It's great stuff watching an entire season in just a few days.

@athanie: I can see the montage sequence now. Soft focus pencil on paper. Clock ticking by. Theme music kicks up. Eyes looking up. Eyes down to biro on lined paper. Pan across list of various jams, preserves and marmalades. Put pen down then high five in the air with victorious teammate! Theme music comes to an end in a crescendo.
