Make a list of 1,001 things you want to do in 1,001 days. I've been working on mine for a few months now. It's a little slow going with my son ruling my life, but I've managed to accomplish a few. I have until May 2001. http://dayzeroproject.com/
And speaking of son...my second suggestion would be to give yourself up for a day. Put someone else's needs and desires ahead of your own. It's frustrating and fulfilling all at once.Jan 03, 2010 19:49 by notanotherskye-

I had a plethora of ideas for this Tweak. Ride a hot air balloon, go somewhere that has bigger mountains than where you live, take a shot at a cool art form (like glassblowing or bookmaking).
Then I decided that the things in life I cherish the most are the times where I said "yes" to something I'd ordinarily say "no" to. So ... I will instead impart advice ...
<advice>
Don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone every once in a while. Whether it's skydiving or eating a pig's eyeball or public speaking, do something that makes your heart race, your palms sweat and your breath quicken. You don't have to do this every day, but do it. The more you challenge yourself before you die, the fuller your life will be.

How many miles are there between towns usually in these Middle American roadtrips? I'm pondering the sanity of doing a thousand miles or so of that on a bike. Please bear in mind I don't expect a precise answer here. : )

@rabbitdan: You could definitely do that in the Midwest. Towns get a little sparser west of the Mississippi. Minnesota and Wisconsin would be very pretty and relatively flat.

@ rabbitdan - you can go for hours in a car in the west without seeing a "real" town. But if you have knowledge of bike mechanics and enough gear, you could make it an epic adventure. If you wanted to have more "support" along the way, you might consider a 1000 mile route that's more on the east coast.
