"The boy's name Jason \j(a)-son\ is pronounced JAY-sun. It is of Greek and Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Jason is "healer; the Lord is salvation". Variant of Joshua. Biblical: an early Christian associate of Paul. Greek mythology: Jason was leader of a group of warrior heroes called the Argonauts."
I've been told that I was named from Jason of Greek mythology. All three of my names at birth are of Greek origin, but my heritage is western European ethnicity, with nary a drop of Greek blood that I know of.
Yes, I do like my name.

My first name is Rachel and doesn't really mean anything other than my mom liked the name. My middle name, Socorro, has the real story. It was my grandma's name and means "help from God". My mom was one of fourteen children and almost all of her siblings put Socorro in at least one of their children's names. It's nice to know that I have this one piece of my grandma with me all the time.

My name is Faith. It's easy to figure out the meaning. I love it, it's a gift from God that has helped me live through a long life of congenital heart disease. I don't want to get into too much detail publicly about it but it is a gift from God by inspiration.

Katie - a diminutive of Kate which is a diminutive of Katherine about which Behind the Name says:
From the Greek name Αικατερινη (Aikaterine). The etymology is debated: it could derive from the earlier Greek name ‘Εκατερινη (Hekaterine), which came from ‘εκατερος (hekateros) "each of the two"; it could derive from the name of the goddess HECATE; it could be related to Greek αικια (aikia) "torture"; or it could be from a Coptic name meaning "my consecration of your name". In the early Christian era it became associated with Greek καθαρος (katharos) "pure", and the Latin spelling was changed from Katerina to Katharina to reflect this.
Anyway, I think it was chosen just because my mother liked it... My three middle names have stories but c'mon that's just too many names.

No jokes, my name's William Wallis. All credit to @demander. Tradition in my family to call every third grandchild ( or something ) on the direct male line William. So it's a nightmare on the registers - but at least people remember you at parties!

Chaomancer: Chaos+mancer, someone who performs chaomancy, which is the use of chaos for the purpose of divination. So in a way, I guess I try to make sense out of chaos. I originally picked the name as a play on Necromancy. Although not the 'divination' type but the 'manipulate the dead' type found in books and games. I figured in some way I manipulate chaos. I create, increase, and sometimes (but rarely) organize chaos.
Yes, I made this up. It is not like I gave it this much thought when I was just looking for an uncommon name.

Meghan - I was named Meghan after both my paternal and maternal grandmothers' names were Margaret. And Meghan is Welsh for Margaret. Margaret means pearl. I like my name because I think I have synethesia and Meghan seems like a very colorful name.

As the story goes, Zoe is Greek for Life. When my mom was in labor, there was concern that there was something very seriously wrong with me and that I wouldn't live long after birth. My mother decided to have me anyway (I was born at Stanford hospital - delivered by Dr. Sunshine). After delivery I was rushed out and given a complete once-over. The only issue they found with me was a heart murmur and I was named Zoe.
Also, Zoe was the name of a girl that lived in the same apartment complex when my parents lived in Orleans, France (but that was 11 years prior to my birth).
I like the name enough. Growing up NO ONE had the name and NO ONE could read it correctly or comprehend me when I introduced myself. Now every other dog, cat and child has my name :)

Your comment to @jackcomrie reminds me that I've been wondering—do you pronounce your son's name with one or two syllables? I ask because I've never seen an accent over the e when you happen to write it in public, which could just be keystroke convenience.

The girl's name Jena \j(e)-na\ is of Sanskrit and Arabic origin, and the meaning of Jena is "endurance; little bird".
My parents were stationed in Germany and watching the only English TV available, a made-for-tv movie called Sand Castles. The totally awesome female character was named Jenna, so they decided if they had a girl it would be that. I was born about a year later :) My mom decided to change it up and only use one "n", which has been a huge source of confusion for teachers and strangers my whole life. Just because it has one less "n" does not mean it is now pronounced like Gina! (Mom also spelled my sisters name different, Keli)

Checked out the movie and saw Jenna's love interest was played by Jan Michael Vincent. 1972. Didn't know he went that far back :). Some IMDB trivia: Originally shot on videotape, then transferred to 35mm. Oh, btw, nice name too.

Brinn is an uncommon first name for women but a very common first name for men. meaning of Brinn is"high, noble, exalted; defender"
(Irish, Gaelic, Celtic)The story I was told was that I was to be named Brian but in the communication back and forth between my mum and Grammy it changed to Brynn and them to Brinn.
Can't imagine being named anything else.

My name is Lauren, which is a variant on the Latin Laurel, a symbol of honor and victory. Being Jewish, it's customary to name your children after relatives who have passed on, usually using their initials. I was named after my mom's grandmother Lillian, I'm not sure why they chose Lauren. I didn't like it as a kid (went by Laurie until I was 13), but I like it now. In recent years it's become a really popular name, which drives me nuts in the market with all the mom's yelling "LAUREN! DON'T TOUCH THAT!"

Jack.
It is of Old English origin and is based on John or the French name Jacques.
If based on John then my name means "of gods grace."
If you take me as a more European gent then my name derives from the Hebrew name Jacob which means "he who supplants."
My parents however choose my name when they were going though a name book. They came across the name Jackson, which is relatively uncommon in this country, and laughed it off. Then my Mum thought of Jack.
I personally have no opinion of my name, it is not ridiculous so I have no reason to not like it.

The meaning I normally find for Leah is that it's Hebrew for weary, but I've also found that it means both gazelle and cow. No idea where my parents got it from, but I'm definitely not named after Princess Leia like lots of people think!

My name is Amanda but I absolutely hate it, so I go by Mandy. It works out though because apparently I'm such a "Mandy" that most people don't even realize that it's short for anything. It means lovable, and I think it's originally Latin...which I guess is kinda fancy in its own unbelievably boring and overused way :)
