Time moves slow when your a kid because everything is new
Time speeds up the older you get because we experience the same thing so much over and over (get up, shower, eat breakfast, drive to work, work, eat, drive home, eat dinner, watch TV, go to sleep). If you want to slow down aging, do things you haven't experienced before.

Nail polish spilled on the carpet? Spray it with hairspray, then poor rubbing alcohol on a rag and rub the nail polish out. It takes a lot of rubbing, but it comes out. My wife recently found this out after a bottle of nail polish broke over the carpet.

I am a big believer in holistic medicine. It's been around a lot longer than over the counter stuff. Here are some useful remedies for everyday problems (hopefully hangovers are not an everyday problem for you)
Upset stomach: Peppermint or ginger (raw, tea or even candies).
Common Cold: honey, water and vitamins. Honey is an antiseptic.
Hangover: Water and vitamins, green tea.
Insomnia: Valerian or skullcap. Fun dreams and knocks you out and you wake up not feeling weird like most sleep things. You can take Valerian and Skullcap at the same time. Cats like Valerian too. Makes them do what cat nip does. I make a Valerian tea with roots and have a skullcap tincture if I can't sleep. Which I can't most of the time. This stuff is the only thing that's ever really helped.Dec 03, 2010 08:07 by discomeg2-

Have so much trouble falling and staying asleep. Never tried skullcap (found some how-to's on tinctures though, neat). Have tried valerian capsules and kava kava (before kava kava was noted for being really bad for your liver or kidneys). Now mainly take a nibble of melatonin and hope it's enough (but not too much because melatonin has a bad morning-after effect if it's too much).

@stephie: yeah, I did the straight valerian for a while and it made me calm down, but I would still have racing thoughts. I tried this tincture called "nervous system tonic" and it worked awesome. Then I tried something else but it didn't work as well because it the herbalist said it didn't have the skull cap and the skull cap in her words, "slows your thoughts down". idk, I've had insomnia since I was a kid. booze and that stuff is the only stuff that works. Even like sleeping pills, they just zonk me out for a while and I will feel weird the next day.

@discomeg2: there's a sofa here just for you should you decide to visit. Of course, we're planning Boston -> New York road trip over Easter so maybe we'll need those vitamins and green tea..

If you are ever laying outside enjoying the sun or just taking a nap, and you find yourself being yelled at constantly by a raven, the raven is not just being bitchy, it is actually calling a large predator as it thinks that you are dead and needs help ripping open your carcass. You have been warned.

The valsalva maneuver ALWAYS gets rid of my hiccups. The way you do it is to close your mouth and nose and then try to breathe out a whole lungful of air. Here's what wikipedia has to say about it: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Valsalva_maneuver.
