Old school books and notes and uke tabs, since the end of December I believe. I won't get to it 'til next month I bet you!

Ok, I'm being brave. Welcome to the world of basement crap. At some point, I'd love to get this room cleaned up and make it a game room or an office or something useful rather than a crap repository. We moved in November 2007, so it's been there for a while (minus the air conditioners which don't permanently live there).

  Getting central air is on the list of things to do, but hasn't been accomplished yet. Supposed to be a super hot summer this year, too. Stupid global warming.

  @rabbitdan: the piles on the chairs are piles. what quantifies a pile? what is a lump? what is a collection of documents stacked on top of each other? they may be small but as @kellydna: pointed out, they have an x-axis. if i were to place each item or collection of items on top of one another it would become something other than a pile - perhaps this 'other' would be a tower.

This pile has been here in some shape for at least two years (if you zoom in you may be able to get a good look at the dust). It may not look like much, but consider that these are all data cd's/dvd's containing all kinds of files that may or may not be worth keeping. To be honest, it is just easier to keep the pile, than it is to try and sort it.

These are reports and schedules that have been sorted and submitted for various projects but need put away. (They were more organized this morning when I showed up for work but I had to search through them to find something.)

I recently took care of my two year old mega pile- go me. This is its fledgling replacement. It is mostly composed of receipts from my vain attempts at figuring out just how much me and the hubby actually spend on food a month and a million random notes about things I need to add/fix in my dissertation. My piles tend to go vertical by way of post it notes- yes, I pile in three dimensions, four if you count time.

  LOL, everyone loves the bunny. He was a prop for a Monty Python and the Holy Grail Halloween costume a few years ago, and now he is the official killer bunny defense system for my backup hard drive. It'll take a holy hand grenade of Antioch to get to that data!

Although you can't swing a cat in my place without hitting a pile, I will present this one. This is my kitchen table. It has not seen a meal eaten on it since I move in over four years ago.

  I understand very much. Were I not having a rather OCD or as he prefers "tidy" guest on Friday, I can only imagine how long the piles would have endured.... maybe forever!
