What have you "borrowed" but never returned. Feel guilty?

This book I accidentally took out of the library, without actually borrowing it, and at first was too scared to return it, then it actually became impossible because we moved.
I felt extremely guilty when I took it 7 years ago, and I still sort of do, which is silly considering I do way worse things along the same lines...

A friend lent this to me two years ago extremely excited for me to read it. I have told him on a number of occasions that I'll gladly give it back. He has yet to contact me looking for it, and I have yet to read it. I've skimmed, but I just haven't the time to sit and read this monster of an intriguing book.

I "borrow" pencils and paper from my friends all the time as I'm too lazy to carry around my own. I'm pretty sure they understand that one can't borrow either without using them down to nothing.

I have tons of textbooks from high school. They never mentioned them and I never got around to returning them. I think they are all out of date now.

I borrowed a walkman (remember those??) from a friend in college, and she went abroad before I had a chance to give it back. I still have the thing, even though I've seen her at least 50 times since college (15 years ago!) AND no one even listens to tapes anymore!

I still have my cassette Walkman. It's my AM/FM radio at the office for listening to baseball games.

I purposely stole this from a girl in seventh grade. She was extremely proud she was learning Japanese and carried this with her everywhere. I got tired of her throwing it in my face that she was interested in another language so I stole the book. She would go on and on about how she was going to become fluent and she was going to learn about other languages and become the first woman president of the United States. That's my most vivid memory from seventh grade, haha.

Not exactly borrowing, but, I use to work near a restaurant owned by this lovely elderly lady. I would go in sometimes and not have enough to eat more than an order of fries and a small drink. She would have none of it and insisted that I eat a real lunch off the buffet or at least have one of her famous, huge hamburgers. She would let a lot of her customers run tabs. I had a pretty big one and was waiting for my tax return to pay it off. About a week before the check arrived, she left. I heard she had gotten ill and needed to leave to live with relatives who were going to take care of her. I tried to find out how to reach her, but no one knew how. I owed her well over $100 and always hated that I did not get to pay her back for all her kindness.

I don't really borrow things specifically because I know I can't be trusted to return them. That's why I don't have a library card and stick to places like half price books instead. I never did return the last book I borrowed from a library. I guess I do feel kind of guilty about that...wow, I hope this afternoon doesn't turn into the great book hunt now, that doesn't sound fun at all.

I went through a stage, and I still am, of wanting to speak fluent French. So, I borrowed this from an aunt. This was 3 years ago… I am still not fluent but plan on being so in the next two years. I just don't have the time!
I feel guilty about not yet learning, but not for my prolonged borrowing time, her French is university standard!Mar 19, 2010 09:15 by jackcomrie-

Ah, Zip Drives. I remember when these first came out, my boss didn't want to get one solely because it was blue and he couldn't take it seriously. A decade later, we still joke about it when he doesn't want to use something—why, because it's BLUE? It just doesn't get old.

I feel quite bad about this, since I've had this book on loan for about two years from @noiselesspenguin - I should give her it back, but even though we see each other twice or so a month, the opportunity just never seems to arise!

funnily enough about half of them landed on me from different places. predominantly the cheesy house records. i really wouldn't be that upset if those ones got turned into dinner plates.
