"Spinny." My username online is 'spinningcannon' (that has a long story behind it, too!), and my friends simply shortened it.
I'm so used to hearing it, I often call myself 'Spinny' instead of my actual name.Apr 13, 2010 06:06 by jwl -

One of my very good friends randomly IM'd me one day greeting me with the name "Calzilla." I shook with laughter and it has stuck ever since. That man is one of the only people I can be myself around, and for that, I adore him! He is one for random nicknames, some of the other ones he has conjured up are: C-Lizzle, C-Moneylovah, Callie "Playa", C-Bizkuits, Guadalupe, HipsOfAwesome, Calfucious, and a few others I can't think of right now. But I'm sure you have grasped the picture, haha.

The closest to a nick name I had as a kid was Brady-Bunch. Not too Original. I sometimes get called B-Rady from time to time but I suppose Brady is original enough to not really require a nickname. (or I'm too boring to deserve one...)

Yesterday I was trying to find something in my work notes from a couple of years ago, and I saw that my coworker had called me "Hope Dasher" for reasons that neither he nor I can remember. I probably dashed his hopes in regard to something code/design-related by laying down the law (and redesigning his software). Anyway, my boss sometimes has me photoshop ridiculous pictures of my coworker--this one is him getting launched by a trebuchet. He (my coworker) is a good sport!

Picklepuss: bestowed by my grandfather when I was a baby, because I would make a face like I just ate a pickle whenever he'd try and kiss me. 30 years later and he still calls me this :)
Jolly Jena Giant, which became JJGiant: my coworkers made this up one day because I was the only one in the store tall enough to lock the upper part of the door or get things off the top shelf (I swear, they were all around 5'2"! I truly was a giant among them)
Jena-wena: what my husband calls me whenever he wants something from me.

Merbear. I have no idea where it came from, it's just always been there. To be honest I don't really care for being called anything other than my name, and even that not too often. But I suppose it doesn't bother me much either, or I would have told the many many people who use a nick name for me every time they speak or write to me.

@pensandpencilsgalore: hee hee hee. Actually, when I said "always been there" I meant it. I've always known it (and never liked) all through the years when pedobear may have been enamoured with me.
I really just put him there for shock value and because I could think of no other illustration for the name. Honestly, I'd expected more comments... Although, a couple months ago I showed @a_noob this picture: http://www.uniquedaily.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/pedobear-desktop.jpg and his response was "aw, it's cute" at which point I had to explain the whole thing (code for: link to encyclopedia dramatica). So... perhaps it's our little secret *lecherous wink*I need to stop drinking in the middle of the night.

I have many, many nicknames. Most people who know me well now just call me Z, but that's short for Super Z, a nickname my sister bestowed upon me when, in a pinch, I was forced to play defense for our soccer team. "Super Z plays super d." This is the same sister that used to call me Po-po as a child (which my kids find hilarious).

When I was 16 a kid called me Midget cause I'm really short. It pissed me off so I beat him up. It took quite a few people to calm me down and get me off of him and everyone thought it was so funny that it caught on. Plus I couldn't beat them all up. It's grown on me and I got it tattooed on my back a few years back so I never forget where I've come from and who I am now. I may always be short but I'm not that little girl with the bad temper anymore.

Again Borders. One of the funniest people I know, Brian C - I forget his last name. He was a professor at Boston College but worked Sundays at Borders for the discount or something. I have this green shimmery skirt I would wear and he called me Shimmerpants because of the skirt. "It's too shimmery". He was a teacher in religion I think. I remember I was reading The Divine Comedy and he said something like, see, everyone goes to Hell. I don't think I can describe him. Anyways, that's prolly my favorite nickname.

My family calls me La La or La (short from Lauren). My sister started it somewhere around the invasion of the Teletubbies. It may also be because I put my hands over my ears and yell "LALALALA" when I don't want to hear something. Since my sister gave birth to my nephew, I'm now Aunt La La or just plain Aunt La.

Nickname: Toph
I have a friend, Paulina, and we took Physics together in high school. One day during a lab, I asked her if people ever called her 'Paul'. Truthfully, I was trying to irk her by even suggesting that I might start calling her 'Paul' because I knew she'd hate it (she's very girly so that wouldn't fit her image too well, she doesn't really look like a 'Paul' either). Like planned, she got a little annoyed (well not really, but enough for her to feel she needed a comeback). So she took my name (Kristen) and made it mannish as well.
"What if I called you Christopher...no wait...Topher!!"And so it was... she then began to call me that which I never understood because I never called her 'Paul'.
But the name has evolved to just 'Toph'...
i guess the two syllables were too much ::shrugs shoulders::Apr 08, 2010 03:32 by ttopher -

Nickname: Slim
Story: Basic sarcasm... which makes me smile. Only used by one person.
Friend: He's a funny guy. See him every Friday night ... for past 18 years. My other nickname (and TT name) is demander. When I worked at BP a few of us set up a Quake clan for online competitions and league matches. We derived our online names from our job titles ... and I was Demand Manager. Hence they came up with 'demander'. It's a name which has stuck and is still used as a nickname as well as an online presence.

Pepsi LaBelle. I can only explain the "LaBelle" portion as this is a family show, and the "Pepsi" portion would make your ears bleed. One day, one of the BFFs and I were sitting in the parking lot of Starbucks when Dolly Parton's 'Hard Candy Christmas' came on the radio. The BFF looked at me and said, "Ya' know babe, if i had to wear wigs, they would have to be Dolly's wigs", I responded to him by saying "Funny you should mention that Babe, because if I had to wear wigs, they would be Patti's wigs."
