I chose a picture closest to the time. I believe it is from late October of that same year. I don't know about the exact date, but I know that I had just finished my divorce settlement and was gearing up for my first "orphan thanksgiving" away from my kids. That sucked about as much as one might imagine it would. I was, however, also prepping for a snowboard trip, so that made it a little better. Actually, no....nothing could have made that any better.

I was a senior in high school and dedicated to playing college football my schedule:
0540 - up to help my dad with chores
0800 - breakfast
0830 - class all day
1600 - weight lifting
1730 - plyos or running
1900 - Home or girlfriends house
2200 - lights outI kept that schedule freshman year of HS to freshman year of college (and then I burnt out and started partying really hard but we don't talk about that too much :))
*NOW WITH A PICTURE :)

This one wasn't too hard for me, given that I often think about this time in my life as being transformational. I was three months away from filing for divorce to escape an incredibly unhappy marriage that I should have ended at least 2 years before. We had been in counseling, and he declared the problems were all mine and he left. Five years and six months ago was when I finally got the courage to tell him the problems were NOT all mine, and *I* left. Best decision I ever made.

Pointe Hilton Tapatio Cliffs Resort. It took me ages to figure this out (I should keep a journal of some sort). 2 of my brothers, 3 of my sisters, their S.O's, the kids that belong to them and my parents. Great little place to visit. We stayed an extra day or two because our flight was oversold and then my husband drove back to the Bay Area with our 1 and (almost) 3 year old kids and I flew to Reno to meet a friend. Good times.

Well I was 8 inches shorter than I am now and would've been in California for the winter break. It would've been around 3:38, so my cousins and I would be at the beach. But on a larger scale, I would be relatively young; let's just say in school I wasn't working on geometry or thesis statements or anything like that. My sister would have just moved in with us a couple months ago, and I'd be sharing a room with her which I would find annoying then, but miss later on when she moved out. I'm pretty sure the only color I wore was purple back then.

The Red Sox had just won their first world series in 86 years, George Bush 2 got reelected on my 22nd birthday soon after. My drink of choice was Grey Goose Martinis and I drove a baby blue Ford Echo. I was just about to meet a jerk I would date for two years. I had two jobs and went to college full-time. I kept a comic journal. Luckily, around this time I wrote in it the most. I didn't date it, but am guessing this is around the time I got fired from Borders in Downtown Boston. Right before Christmas. I got fired for calling out sick, but I was really just hungover. Life changing stuff right here. I'll explain the divorce thing another time.

From my LiveJournal, December 2nd, 2004:
*yawn*
I should have listened to myself this morning when I woke up. I was considering to skip my first class, because it started at 8:30 and ended at 10, and it's a class about Flash, and the teacher kind of only repeats what he said the last time.
So, I had told my parents I had to leave early, so I had to go cuz they get pretty angry when I'm skipping school. So, I took the bus, and we ended up in this stupid traffic-jam, with as result that the bus was like ONE FUCKING MINUTE too late at the train station, and I missed my train. I had to wait 30 minutes in the cold, and then the next one came -_-.
I decided not to go to class anymore, so now I'm here, sitting in this computer room.I think I'm just gonna translate some more stuff for JaME. I've translated like, 5 files yesterday night, and there are quite some easy ones, so I'll do those now.
I just wish I had some BIG headphones.

This mission was harder than I expected. After graduating from college in Madison, WI, I was working at punchstock.com and building pages like this:
http://web.archive.org/web/20041123042034/www.punchstock.com/store/I remember there was a lot of buzz about Search Engine Optimization and Podcasts at the time. This was before I used Twitter, Facebook or Flickr so there's not much to go on. What a difference 5 years, 6 months makes.

I moved to my friend Chris's flat in Hove, next to Brighton on 13/11/2004. Happily this flat was located on the seafront quite close to the west pier. This may even have been the view from Chris's window. Anyway, I spent quite a lot of time watching birds over the pier that winter. They would fly round the pier in these massive flocks for hours. Very beautiful sight.

Now, if this mission had been for 5 years and *5* months ago (December 17, 2004), you would have heard me squealing with delight as I communed on that very day with the feral rabbit population on the University of Victoria (British Columbia) campus during a stop in that beautiful city. My parents and I went on a group vacation which culminated in a train ride aboard the Rocky Mountaineer through the Canadian Rockies.

I had transferred colleges, moved to California (Santa Cruz) the previous summer, and was neck-deep in digital media and film classes. I lived in a 7 bedroom house (pictured) with 10 other college students/recent graduates. “Dirty martini night” was an event that sometimes lead to our “postmodern art installations,” where we’d relocate the furniture and carpets from inside the house to the yard, rearrange it all, and take pictures. We thought it was pretty ingenious at the time.

@rabbitdan: I only have a couple that are blurry, don't show off the furniture very well, and are not scanned in. The housemate (who I imagine had the best pictures) decided shortly thereafter that he'd rather live in a tent in the woods, behind the university (never saw him again--I hope he's not still living out there).
