Although I did not create it, I did come up with a motivational paper weight which is great for work. You see, as you start out with a pile of paper-to-do, you need a heavy paper weight: a very full candy dish. As you go through your pile, less weight is required to hold it down: eat a piece of candy. I figure 1 piece of candy for every 5 pages should suffice. (I don't have an actually pile of paper, so I just used some old ad flyers for this picture)

@stephie: so true :) an awesome motivator ... maybe I should actually bring it to work. Hiding it from coworkers might be difficult though.

That's a good use of what's on hand. I especially like the edible one. Paper weight or snack, you get to decide.

@chaomancer: No, my husband and I have take classes at glass blowing/hot glass art centers with molten glass and glory holes. It's definitely an art form for people who like heat.

Here's a picture of the paperweight being made. I had just added the outer clear glass part and we're making it round. All glass pieces have to be annealed in an annealing oven so they cool down gradually and don't crack. It's also not an instant-gratification art form. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2091/2455493057_e4967b3b1d_o.jpg

This is so bitchen! I have always wanted to blow glass but haven't yet. I have blown sugar, which is similar. Its very tricky and a little dangerous, but very cool nonetheless.

@shannonsfchef: It's all fun with fire. :) I'd love to try making something with blown sugar. Such a pretty culinary art form!

A big paper weight probably means a big pile of paperwork. Ew. Unless it's actually fun paperwork. This would also be great to bury some papers underneath :)
