I heard a funny story about failbook. The guy who runs the cheezburger network, he bought failbook, but it was under some other domain. Someone had already owned failbook.com and was just taking the stuff posted on the cheezburger site and putting it on his. I forget the technical term for it. So this guy was in Mexico. The Cheezburger guy was going to sue, but instead called him on the phone and they talked it out. I heard the cheezburger guy explain this in person last weekend at a conference about the awesome part of the internet.

Aardvark. All about asking and answering questions. It's not about points, prizes or anything like that. You tell them what you know about and if someone has a question you might be able to answer they forward it to you. Yeah, it is. I use to do the whole Yahoo answers bit, but I would get lots of junk answers by people just trying to earn points. On Aardvark, they only send your question to a handful of people. Once you have at least one answer, they stop. If the answer is no good, you can ask for more. Also once you sign up you can run just about everything by email or mobile. You almost never have to go to the site unless you just want to answer a bunch of questions just for the fun of it.

I didn't really like Twitter when it first came out. I didn't see the point. But now I love it. I really like being connected to local businesses and news agencies to get updated on important information and sales. It also brings a human element to them that you don't usually get to see. It was pretty cool to follow during the flood last weekend to know which areas were being hit and what roads to avoid. Even better after to help organize relief groups.

I felt the same way about Twitter. As you can tell by my post I am a bit of a social networking freak. But Twitter took me a little while to understand. Then one day, honest to God, I had a dream about Twitter and how to use it. I woke up and was like, oh yeah...(totally following you now btw)
