They are both really good books. And pretty breezy reads despite the content.

Overrated. Kerouac was like the drama queen out of the group. Ginsberg was the genius. I read this it is a good book, but people take it too seriously.

@discomeg2: i just lac the time and patience i think to follow his stream of consciousness, and ginsberg is amazing that is very much true
@thedigitalghost: i never needed any help in learning to do very bad things... i seem to have a natural knack at that sort of thing

I'm so sorry for your loss. I can completely understand reluctance to finish this after associating it with such a tragic event. That is especially the case considering, if not the direct subject matter of this book, then the tone of loss and emptiness and longing. That said, they really are wonderful.

@merendis: I've always intended on picking it up to finish.. I think I just forget it's there somtimes.. but especially after the first story... I remember crying my outs out late at night after reading it just to wake up to someone telling me a friend died.. it was just days of crying.. haha

I'm been reading a book called "Ladies and Gentlemen: the Bible." It is stories based on events from the bible. Maybe not the most politically correct book but it's funny.

Eventually I always get around to the books I want to read, but for the past couple of months this one book has been evading me: The Canterbury Tales, by Geoffrey Chaucer. I've gotten to about 80 pages in and then something will stop me and I'll forget about it again hahaha
