I got this from Stephie, as we both like Koontz' books. In my memory, his earlier books were better than some recent ones. I read this one on a long flight, so reading it cover to cover was no problem.

Such a fantastic series. The Liveship Traders is really good too, but wait 'till you hit the Fool's (or Tawny Man) series... They really step up the stories to another level.

And I loved it! Searching for this cover I ended up with a lot of pictures of Brad Pitt, leading me to discover that his production company, with Paramount, has optioned this for a film!
I think it would make a great film.
After all, I don't think I was quite disturbed and horrified enough by the mere written descriptions of the bodily maggot infestations, the parasitically contracted elephantiasis, the abundance of anecdotes involving flies puss and blood, and the Candiru...
