nothing consistent, despite never ending attempts to establish an exercise routine! ive never found a physical activity/workout/exercise that I LOVE, which really bums me out! I like-ish the following: brisk walking, zumba, c25k/jogging, taibo...I'm really interested in trying yoga, but feel super intimidated by it. so I've been thinking about signing up for a mommy and me yoga class with my 3 year old to get a non-threatening feel for it...still haven't had the courage though!

yoga's not as bad as it seems and you can do it alone too. It's really good for you even the simple stuff.

I walk about 40-50 minutes per day between home, the station and work. We also took up jogging last week, but it's more "walking briskly along the canals interspersed with a bit of jogging". I also got a pair of the Skechers Tone Ups because the lady in the shop was nice to me.

I used to run and stuff, but my legs got messed up. Now I try to walk at least a mile everyday. This day I walked to Harvard Sq. (there was a parade) which is like 3.5 miles from my apt. My bike got stolen recently too. So just walkin' for me. Which is fine because the weather is finally getting warmer.

On the days I am home I use my weight bench. It is the Powertec leverage system pictured below. Some days just to get out of the house I will either go down to the police station gym, or the Recreational center to lift weights. On the days I work, I work 24 hour shifts, I will go to to the Police station or the Rec ctr. To work out. I have put myself on a pretty heavy exercise schedule. I feel that it is part of my job to keep myself as fit as I can. I also do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. It is great cardio. I have lately been missing my classes because of short finances.

I used to go to Curves regularly, but since I only do that sporadically now, I make sure I walk home from work every day. It takes about 35 minutes. When it's a little warmer, I'll go on recreational bike rides.

I sort of wish (sort of don't) I would exercise more too. But these are good to do "whenever", you don't have to go to a gym or set anything up. Well, except for a dvd maybe :)

if you do five of those in a row minus step nine, then five wherein.. how to explain... you repeat the step nine thing twice, once with each leg, and then go back to five after the first one? That's the first part of a ashtanga primary series. It's all about moving and flow, so it turns out to be good cardio.

@toyotaboy: It does, riding it is a joy; the bike just eats up tarmac. As for Trek bikes they are fantastically built bikes, most of my mates are into downhill and their Trek's are monsters.

i have 3 small children, a hyperactive dog, and I live 3 flights of stairs down from the street (where the garbage can is). Plus Kinect Dance Central and Kinect Sports. I used to run, but the herniated disc/smooshed sciatic/numb foot put an end to that.

Training your entire upper body will help tone your arms....
My recommendation, using five-to eight-pound weights, perform 15 to 20 reps of each exercise and go from one move to the next with little or no rest between. Do two or three sets three times a week. Good luck :)

I ran for a long time and ended up getting shin splints all the time and was told to stop. I would suggest soft ground, like trail running if you are going to do it. I saw that diagram the other day. Seemed smart.

@discomeg2: indeedio. I've got the vibrams so running on concrete's especially rough. I've taken to just running in circles in the small parks around here. I don't think I'm anywhere near the shin splints stage yet, however.

@merendis: I figure skated for a long time too. I think that had a lot to do with it. I heard icing down the muscles or alternating between hot and cold compresses after a big run is a good plan too. And the alternating between the walk and run.
