obsessively reading food labels and never eating the bad stuff. I have no clue really how I've made such a shift in this area!

i never could because of my congenital heart disease, and i just had a valve replacement and ablation, bla bla, so I'm in a good place I've never been before. i just decided to order p90x and if i can do it, you can do it. anaerobic is easier than aerobic on my heart so it's perfect for me. my body is changing, but no weight loss yet. my skin is looser from fat loss so i must have lost fat and gained muscle. i've only lost 2lbs of actual weight in 3 weeks, but i hear that at about week 5 or 6 people started to drop the fat. it is easier for me to exercise because my guy is doing the exercise with me, partly., but i think i'd do it even without him. i've never been able to exercise this much in my entire life and now i can, so i will!

if you start doing an exercise routine of any kind, don't give up early. it can take a long while to see noticeable changes.

if you've got health, appreciate it!!! focus on what a blessing health is, how you will be setting a good example. people use other peoples actions to justify or evaluate theirs all the time. i know my arrhythmia is likely to return (statistically) in the next year or two, but i want to enjoy this while i have it.

thanks for the responses. I've worked hard to lose about 85 pounds over the last year without ever really exercising. now I've got about 25 left to lose and I want to be more active for more than just the weight loss. I've tried so many activities hoping to find something I love but nothing has really stuck. I even spent months training for a 10k and completed it, but still there was no habit at the end of it! I've recently quit all my bad habits/colic skills and desperately need to replace them so as to have an outlet...I really want that THING to be exercise...just feels impossible to become "athletic" for te first time at 30 years old, you know?

I probably had something else in mind when I suggested this mission, but coffee will do. I always used to only drink decaffeinated because caffeine has a pronounced effect on me, but then a year or two ago I threw caution to the wind and started drinking regular like there was no tomorrow. Every Saturday I endure the caffeine withdrawal headache.

This is one I'm starting to pick up. I started a job as a barista about two weeks ago, and I can already feel myself succumbing to the magic of caffeine.

Do you want a hand on your resume? I'm not a professional writer, but I've written successful resumes for 3 people. One was a Pharmacist, 1 was a stay-at-home mom who got a customer service role, and one was a computer monkey. All of them got a gig with-in a month! LMK and I can post my email. You can block out personal information if you're uncomfortable with that :P

@superc0w: I'm so sorry to hear that :( I would love to help you keep your mind off stuff if I can. Maybe I'll write a novel too and have you edit that as well :) I'll go through the 20 different versions of my resume and send what I have when I get home tonight. Thanks again!

Being a little weather obsessed. Like I can't plan anything without knowing whether it's going to be hot or cold or raining or what. It's even worse when there's a storm, especially snowstorms, and this year, friggin' hurricanes, with 24/7 weather coverage, oh boy! (and earthquakes, tornadoes, and blizzards, I think we've had it all this year) Just have to know what the temps will be even though it usually doesn't change anything. And they're not always right.

I use a big whiteboard to keep track of all my priorities. It's covered with progress thermometers and, for smaller tasks, checkboxes. It's a habit i developed because of attention deficit disorder-- I can't keep my priorities straight nor keep long-term projects on track unless I remind and reward myself with these "success thermometers". Basically, the whiteboards turn a minus into a plus: I feel GOOD about making progress toward goals, instead of only thinking of priorities when I bump up against a failed deadline. Also, it's internally driven rather than being scolding done by others, so I feel happy.

@toyotaboy: There are virtual post-it programs for your desktop, too. 3M (the makers of real post-its) makes it for free.
Text files work-- but they're ignorable, right? I need something in-my-face or I won't do it. More power to ya, Toyota.

But it doesn't bother you that it's like chili powder, that covers up the flavah of the rest of the sentence? I'm consciously tryin' to reduce my use of cusswords by maintaining a list of clever cussword substitutes like "FOr rice cake! (for Chrissake)" and "Gee whiskers!" and "Good gourd! (good god)" and "Firetruckandallthedamnedfiremen" instead of the F-bomb.
If I get good at fake cussin', I figure the amusement will attract listeners rather than making gentler souls plug their ears.Sep 20, 2011 03:44 by sethness. -

My boss goes around saying "Oh crumbs!" when she really wants to say "OH F--k!!" and that's just ridiculous to me, makes her sound like a little kid. "Crumbs" just don't cut it, but at work, yea OK. My mom used to say "oh fudge!" but she threw around "oh sh*t" like it was nothing so maybe she just wanted fudge.
