It's the year 2150... what (technology, job, appliance, etc.) do you think will be obsolete?

Things like iPads, Kindles and all that other crap will have been thrown away for making people stupid. Celebrity culture will have collapsed after reaching critical mass in the mid 21st century. Education and self-improvement will return with the advent of paper books, remembered by a select few who actually gave a shit about quality products.

I imagine mechanics will be obsolete, at the rate we're going consumerism will lead to "iCars" where you just get a new one when a belt breaks.
Also management.... probably not, but I sure hope so :PMar 06, 2012 18:54 by superc0w -

Velcro. I sincerely hope that this abomination of an invention is eradicated because it is the worst thing ever. There will hopefully be other ways to fasten things together.
As for jobs, the people who serve fast food. I have a feeling all of that will be automated in the futureMar 06, 2012 15:27 by coconut -

I was tempted to say "all technology" because I expect humanity to royally f things up soon. But on the off chance there is still some civilization left, I expect that vacuum cleaners will be obsolete. I mean, let's face it, if people still need to vacuum their places 140 years from now, science and manufacturing has really focused on the wrong priorities.

So we'd drive on pollution, instead of pollute by driving? I'm in.

Fluorescents (if they're still around) give off heat too, especially the bigger ones, but not as much as these of course.-

I am kinda sensitive to the flickering that fluorescents give off. After a while they give me a head ache.

Just finished watching Wall-E, was wondering that myself. Hopefully CDs and DVDs will be replaced by USBs. I'm so sick of getting half way through a movie before having to skip through 4 episodes or chapters to watch the end wondering what happened in the middle.
