For those who seek not intricate plotline, serious social commentary, or believable romance, there is Transformers 2: my recommendation (to those whose interest in serious cinema progresses only slightly further than Megan Fox's inadequate yet somehow captivating bosom, but stopping short of Paul Verhoeven's delicious critique of the US Army in Starship Troopers), is that unless your idea of humour is a faux-british ancient robot spouting such antique phrases as "my father was a wheel" and with the odd "bollocks" and "tosser" thrown in to reinforce his otherwise flaky and frankly insulting grotesque caricature of the British grandfather, go see Starship Troopers.

Yeah the book Starship Troopers is awesome, but it's Heinlein, and while he can be hit or miss, that one was particularly interesting.

@jenaissance: I did read the book first, and loved it. I appreciated that the film would have to focus more on the Hollywood-style space battles and action scenes, but I think they did manage to make it sufficiently screwball at times to be a successful satire. Don't get me wrong, I still prefer the book, but compared to other book -> film adaptations I could name, this wasn't bad.
