@kristenskydiver: Agreed. Not at all cute. I hope that the bird was at least given a burial.

This brings back a horrible memory for me. A couple of months ago I was waiting for the train and noticed that a baby bird had fallen out of its nest in the rafters onto the platform. It was a little older than this and had its eyes open and some pin feathers, but far from being ready to leave the nest. I couldn't bear the thought of leaving it there for some sadistic kid to come along and stomp on, so I picked it up and put it in the bushes to the side of the track. I've been doing my best to put out of my mind that it probably was then slowly devoured by ants or something rather than being quickly squashed which in the end would probably have been far less torturous to the helpless creature. I remain conflicted over whether I did the right thing. :(

@kellydna: Theirs not much you can do in a situation like that. I think you did the right thing, in that you were considerate enough to think about and act on the baby birds well being.

@x-u: This was a picture I took while walking along one day. It is of a died baby bird. I took the picture because it seemed so useless that it had to die, and no one else was even noticing it laying there. Kinda Strange I know but oh well!
