I read Krakauer's "Under the Banner of Heaven: A Story of Violent Faith"-- it's also a very powerful book!

@mlmassey: I have his books on CD--he has a real deadpan voice which makes it even funnier to me. Some of his audio books have (bonus) live recordings in front of live audiences--win!

Yep, that's it. It's facing the left side of the picture. The dark spot is an ear, the dot to the left is its eye--looks like a fat mouse.

I took this last year on a path near Multnomah Falls, OR. There was a whole community of them, but this is the only one I caught on camera. They had a huge underground network of tunnels--they kept appearing on the hillside and would then disappear down one of the holes.
