I went pretty far back up my family tree, and found this site: www.microbialart.com. It collects artwork that is created from living bacteria, fungi, and protists.
Pictured is several works from Eduardo Kac -- he calls these Biotopes, and each is a “self-sustaining ecology comprised of thousands of very small living beings in a medium of earth, water, and other materials.”
