The Desert of Maine. Located in Freeport, ME, it is purported to once be a farm that was poorly farmed and uncovered glacial silt once the topsoil was eroded. It looks like a giant sand trap that has pieces of broken farm items strewn about, with signs like "There is a house buried here"... with arrows pointing to piles of sand. A makeshift gift shop abounds with Desert of Maine snow globes, ashtrays and such. It was good for a laugh, anyway.
