Are these IPAs served warm without fizziness? Is that what IPA means? I had one forced upon me last week and it was not pleasant...

@merendis: they should be rightly chilled. I'm sorry for your experience.

@discomeg2: I knew it! it's @a_noob's fault. I bet him he wouldn't drink a single drink faster than me the whole evening, so he got guiness, which he can drink like water and recommended the flat warm crap for me. It was a struggle, but I still won. I'll get him for this...

Stainless carafe's rule. (that and I always manage to shatter the glass ones)

@stephie: Yes, I have broken a number of glass ones in my time, usually while I'm washing them. I just give it a little accidental tap on the sink wall and kaboom. This has been a good little coffee pot. I also like that it's a cone and not a basket filter.

@kellydna: I gather the glass ones are very sensitive to washing. It's to do with the changes in temperature weakening the glass. A secretary in an old job of mine burned her stomach while washing a glass coffee pot and had to claim injury damages.

@stephie: I've also broken the glass from washing with cold water right after I make the coffee--since then I've used hot water and have had no problems.

For me it's usually a bump/tap against the sink or faucet or (some black hole in space that happens to be in my vicinity) whatever the cause, if it's glass, I'll break it eventually. (carafe's, beautiful wine glasses, ugly wine glasses, regular juice glasses). I'm dangerous. Sucks too because I love sparkly glass/crystal. Have to admire it from a distance.
