I had a parent sign four forms, two labeled "your copy" and two labeled "please return." Sent her on her merry way with the "your" copies and as it turns out they all should have been retained. Whoops.

Katie - a diminutive of Kate which is a diminutive of Katherine about which Behind the Name says:
From the Greek name Αικατερινη (Aikaterine). The etymology is debated: it could derive from the earlier Greek name ‘Εκατερινη (Hekaterine), which came from ‘εκατερος (hekateros) "each of the two"; it could derive from the name of the goddess HECATE; it could be related to Greek αικια (aikia) "torture"; or it could be from a Coptic name meaning "my consecration of your name". In the early Christian era it became associated with Greek καθαρος (katharos) "pure", and the Latin spelling was changed from Katerina to Katharina to reflect this.
Anyway, I think it was chosen just because my mother liked it... My three middle names have stories but c'mon that's just too many names.

Every year my elementary school would gather all of the children in the auditorium for a screening of The Birds.
