@a_noob: We're going to MakerFaire in Newcastle, I've never been that far North before!

@leah: oh excellent - I hope you enjoy yourselves! I was born in South Shields, just a few miles east of Newcastle. It's a beautiful town with wonderful architecture :)

@a_noob: Cool! I'm only going because my boyfriend wanted to go and he doesn't drive - he's promised me Sunday to go round the town a bit. Any recommendations?

@leah: Fenwick's is good for shopping, then walking through the arcade to the alternative culture shops in Eldon square (well hidden!), a walk starting at the station towards the Tyne, along the Quayside, over the 'blinking eye' millennium bridge to the Baltic modern art gallery (which is always excellent). Opposite is a Pitcher and Piano for lunch, or a Slug and Lettuce further up opposite the Sage (an astonishing concert venue and very unusual building). My favourite spot for lunch is a tea room upstairs in the Tyneside Cinema just off Pilgrim Street. Enjoy!
