This is a classic book, how far through it did you get? It's well worth finishing - so much popular culture alludes to it and its message..

@soarkaios: why does no-one finish this book? is it too much to have the main character not have a Disney love affair at the end? does no-one watch any films by the Cohen bothers??

Funny enough, this is probably the only book I *did* finish in 10th grade English class.

One of those "classics" I've always wanted to read but so far just haven't. Maybe someday.

For a much lighter dose of Orewell that will give you a taste, go for Animal Farm.

@og_reborn: Yes, I have read Animal Farm and enjoyed it very much. Part of why I haven't finished 1984 is because I (foolishly) always think that I have already absorbed the message of the book through popular culture and other extratextual sources.
