The seven years I lived in Boston (I took this photo in the Boston Public Gardens last weekend - that's a statue of George Washington in the background). Boston was responsible for me becoming so much of who I am today, and as a result, I love the city to pieces.

Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and other arbitrary dates of the year were declared "Junk Food Nights." My parents, brother and I would be allowed to eat whatever we wanted - which usually amounted to fried mozzarella sticks and a lot of cookies. I maintain the junk food night tradition even now - on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and any other Saturday night that just feels "right."

I wanted to be a journalist. I majored in journalism in college, but thanks to some great internships, I realized that reporting was not where my heart was - I wanted to be more involved in a single cause, not just observing others who were involved. I've worked as a fundraiser for nonprofits for almost my entire career.

I've just learned to love this book after years of being convinced that I hated it. Reading something in junior high English will do that for you sometimes. Next on my list is Lord of the Flies :)

There are very few dessert that I don't love - but this is my most recent obsession, thanks to the maple sugaring season being upon us. It's a warm maple-gingerbread with a side of french vanilla ice cream, drizzled with a maple syrup reduction sauce. Heavenly!
