TweakToday's mission for March 27th, 2009: Submit a photo of you as a child (or much younger person), side by side with a current photo.
The old photo is from my sophomore year in high school I think, so 1991/1992. The new photo is from 2009. I'll let you figure out which is which.
[Tried to get the smile the same, but this was the only photo that was in focus (thanks, iPhone!)]

Here's two forehead scars from two different incidents; not sure which story goes with which scar. One is from a shopping cart (sister hanging off one side, me off the other; sister gets off without telling me; shopping cart turns over straight onto my forehead) and the other is from a chimney liner (we used them as coffee tables in our living room when I was a kid; I was hiding behind the drapes from my sister; when I blindly ran out to scare her I plowed headfirst into the edge.)

Ooooh. Registered "RealFeel." I wish dashboard had RealFeel. Who knows what we're feeling?

Technically there are only two books here, but this is what was on my nightstand:
Wired
Last month's issue because I find very little time for reading anymore. My War: Killing Time In Iraq by Colby Buzzell
This book, while being an ostensibly frank and honest portrait of life on the front lines as told by a grunt, was one of the worst reads I've had in a long time. This is part in due to the fact that the impetus for the book, and in fact half of its contents are made of up the blog posts Buzzell made while stationed in Iraq. The bigger problem however is that dude cannot write to save his life, and the publishers apparently couldn't be bothered to hire an editor for him.Kelly's Heroes
Lawrence of Arabia
Two DVDs I borrowed from my dad then left on my nightstand after unpacking. I have yet to watch either, probably because they are on a completely different floor from the TV.A Model World by Michael Chabon
I figured a collection of short stories might be easier to get through than a full-fledged novel, but I have yet to crack this, so I have no idea. - Mar 22

Today's TweakToday mission: Photograph something you've never used/worn. Explain why you bought it.
Back in the fall I became convinced the brake pads on my bike were almost done, but no shop in town carried the replacements. Turning to the internet, I found some for a decent price, and bought two sets to try and offset the shipping costs. When I went to replace the ones on my bike, I realized my current set were only about halfway gone, so I stuffed them in my bag figuring I would put them on at work within a couple weeks. That was in October. Anyone wanna buy some Shimano Ultegra brake pads?

Today's TweakToday mission: post the song in your itunes library with the highest "play count."
I wasn't sure how this would turn out since I had to rebuild my iTunes library from scratch a couple months ago, so it really could have been anything. Instead, in a somewhat unsurprising move, it turns out to be a track off what may be my number one album of 2008, the third self-titled record from The Bronx. Even less surprisingly, it's track 1, "Knifeman," that came in with 11 plays so far (and now 12.) You can slo see from the cover flow view that Anchor Arms' Cold-Blooded and Springsteen's Born To Run have been in heavy rotation lately as well. Not a bad lineup if I do say so myself.

For TweakToday's daily mission: light something on fire.
I think the manufacturers of American GirlĀ® dolls (and clothes and books and furniture and god knows what else) must have an inside line at every maternity ward in the country, because these damn catalogs full of creepy and repetitive dolls just started showing up the moment we had our first daughter. Lo and behold, one showed up this morning, just in time for the first TweakToday mission I've had time to complete.
Check out www.tweaktoday.com for more exciting daily missions.
