Garbage Chutes! Mostly out of pure laziness. My first idea was an contraption I'd seen in an old victorian here in SF where you could open the front door from the 3rd floor by pulling a lever, but I couldn't find a pic. But hey! This garbage chute is fancy and updated for all our recycling-separation needs!

  NYC back in the 70's- lived in an old tenement house, about six stories. The garbage chute scared the livin' crap outta me. There were stories the older Italian ladies told us about dead bodies down there. I imagine it was meant to keep us kids safely away from it but they had no idea the therapy bills it would cost later on down the road. Geesh, them urban legends...

This is a terrible photo of a Czech 5 koruna. The only foreign currency I could find! I actually had a foreign currency collection growing up too!

I gave this homeless woman and her kitty a dollar and she let me take their picture. The exchange went pretty well...until she asked to see the picture and in her excitement shot some nasty unidentifiable goober from her mouth onto my phone :(
