Oh yeah, that photo's fresh from Vietnam -- just making the most out of being in that costume (in 95 degree heat and humidity for that matter!).

This is the biggest (and one of the oldest) scars on me. I got it when I was 3: I fell on my driveway in Malaysia, chasing a funeral truck passing by. I love creeping people out with that story, but in all honesty, funeral trucks are more like noisy parade floats there, colorfully decorated and full of drums, horns and gongs trying to scare away evil spirits - the next best thing to an ice cream truck!

That is a great find. Love the surrounding illustrations too. Kind of in the same vein as what I have on my wall!

Thanks! The illustrations, inspired by the animals on the O'Reilly series, were found in a couple books of old animal engravings. The skull I found on a random Pittsburgh-to-NYC road trip pit stop at Cabela's, the most awesome and amazing outdoor supply store ever! They have a giant 50 foot taxidermy mountain in the middle of the store! I haven't tested the skull's whiskey storing feature yet, though that seems like a good idea.

oh hey! great collection!
I have a bird one very similar the one on the bottom right, but it doesn't work so well on it's own. I'd love to know where you found all of these.Mar 29, 2009 10:08 by nicolebliss. -

Nice skull. Can you store your whiskey in it?

So after some internet investigating, it looks like it's "mei cai" -- dried, salted mustard greens. This recipe makes it sound a little more appealing: http://www.chezpei.com/2006/10/mei-cai-ko-rou.html
