Overheard on bus, couple of studenty looking guys. (Chinos are these things: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chino_pants)
Guy 1: "I can't stand chinos."
Guy 2: "... huh? chinos or emos?"
Guy 1: "I said chinos. But are you an emo? You're wearing black and you've got long hair."
Guy 2 "Erm–"
Guy 1, very emphatically: "I'd rather be an emo than a chino."-

I suppose I'd prefer a weird styling choices to actually being a pair of pants ...

This is Em, the best cartoon strip to come along in years. See also www.emcartoons.com. It's been picked up by a national newspaper. I have a bunch of her strips saved for backdrops.

I liked digg somewhat, but I twigged that most of it was silly photos hosted on imgur.com or cracked.com articles. The comments are not youtube stupid, but there's more dumb stuff than on reddit. And yes, the 'power users' got on my nerves. I really like the niches on reddit, and that you can post discussion topics without submitting a link.

@merendis: Friday. My sister was totally shattered, but the baby seems fine, she's extremely endearing! I've heard they get really fun around nine months - old enough to move, smile, gurgle, react, but not so independent that they become small , noisy dirt-seeking missiles.

s more random, interesting and broader than Digg, and the community feels more cohesive. I could have posted Reddit, but, well, my baby niece is the current subject of my fascination.

The Indonesian flag is identical to the Polish flag, just upsidedown. Did you have to read The Silver Sword at school? It's set in Warsaw during WWII and was pretty much compulsory for all children our age, it seemed. I don't remember much but it was quite a readable book.

Dude, Cruelty and The Beast is amazing. Don't be ashamed – CoF is one of the better (black) metal bands. Nymphetamine is good, although I'm not so keen on their new stuff (Thornography was not to my taste at all).

Bimble. Bimble is a nice word. Otis is a good name, it makes me think of aardvarks. Estuardo is a good Peruvian-type name and is also the name of our wonderful Peruvian handyman at work.

1982! Since I'm in the UK, this is according to the Top 40. It's alright, but I prefer Electric Avenue. I'm surprised how many of his songs I know without realising it was all the same guy, ha.
The No. 1 album was The Kids From Fame – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Kids_from_%22Fame%22 (how naff is that?)

it's a pretty good album, although had you been born a year earlier, you could have had Tainted Love, which was a rare "good" track that came out of the 80s. There were a few more, but not many..

I've just noticed the ethnicity of the foods :) Pretty cool. So, what would you pay for a tub of chocolate hobnobs (the blue tubs on the second shelf down)? They are the perfect biscuit. I'm in the UK and curious about the cost in the US...

@mattsidesinger: it's a pun on Ryan Air, www.ryanair.com, budget airline along the lines of easyjet (ie, 1p for the flight, then £20 to check in baggage, £5 to get a meal, £2 to use the loo, etc etc etc).
Bizarrely the shop has punned on Ryan Air but copied the bright orange colour of all of easyjet's branding. Unfathomable.
