Interesting. I, too, had had the idea to deconstruct my personality. I even had an image in mind. But the coffee pot was easier and less depressing.

@kellydna: : )
I was in two minds about posting this but I like the poem and it wouldn't go away when I thought about the tweak. Why? Dunno. To be fair it's really one thing in there among many significantly cheerier others. I may post something else later.

Maybe that's the blog entry tonight. Maybe not.

The picture on the right is interesting too.

@athanie: @coco-tidan: @kellydna: I think the poem took apart a moment more than anything else. It's by Spike Milligan by the way, who also did the drawings in the book. My favourite is this drawing of a lamp saying it is afraid of the dark.

@rabbitdan: That gives me a genuine smile :) What's the emoticon for that?

@athanie: I don't know. I thought it was : ) Is that normally ironic? Have I been smiling ironically at people for all this time? I know exactly what you mean though. Often I want to tell someone that something they have said has made me very happy in a small place inside of me, if only briefly. Emoticons don't work for that. To express that stuff we need to get more articulate with actual words.

@rabbitdan: No, I've been using : ) as a real smile too, or to show that my snarky-sounding comment was not meant to be snarky. But what I meant by "genuine smile" was what you just referred to, and yes, I don't feel that an emoticon can't show that.

@athanie: Ah. Sadly you can't see the yellow (years of tea and cigarettes and not being American have taken their toll) of my teeth as I smile. The internet is so interesting. For so many reasons.
PS - Am listening to Hot chip who don't like very much but they are making me want to do bad disco dancing in my room with hysterical hips and stuff {: @ Oh dear : )

@rabbitdan: :D
I keep running into Hot Chip for one reason or another. iTunes keeps trying to tell me that I'll love Hot Chip (via recommendations). Right now I'm listening to Blakroc, and they have an album coming out soon which I'm looking forward to.
These links could come in handy. Now I can make the emoticon which means "I am a cowboy" C):-)
But I think I should stop using :D because to me it means a big smile, but the second link suggests it means I'm "laughing at you." I can only hope that people don't think I'm laughing at them when I use that. Hm.

@athanie: It means big smile to me too. I almost see the teeth in the D. Crap. That's it. Someone needs to design an emoticon specific font, with teeth in the capital D and things like that.

:D Big smile, really happy. LOL is for laughing.
