I spent a while pondering this. I ended up thinking the main thing that symbolises my heritage to me is the landscape; the land I'm living in. I nearly posted a picture of a big hill in Cornwall but went for this instead. Not sure why. Incidentally, the big hill has a name I can't remember. I like the idea of people placing their mythology there, as apparently people still do in Wales with their mythology (some of which is quite beautiful).

@coco-tidan: Thanks. I took it about six times at different exposures. I had to stand and wait for the light for ten minutes too. Oh, I sound like some old lag photographer now, don't I? Oh well.

@athanie: Which idea? The thought about the mythology is something I am seriously considering looking into in greater detail.

It's wonderful you can identify with your landscape. My family has moved around a lot, so home has just become wherever I hang my hat on any given day. I must admit, I envy you a little bit, especially considering how beautiful that picture is!

Monet used to paint the same scene over and over again. I don't think waiting a few minutes for the light to change is such a big deal. Lol.

@rabbitdan: both the mythology and the connection to land idea. Makes me think of Native Americans and how their beliefs and artwork reflect the land they're living in.

@notanotherskye: I know! I just felt like a bit of an arse saying it. : )

@athanie: I'm pondering the idea that beliefs do reflect surroundings. This occurred to me over Christmas while watching a Santa Claus movie. It's the kind of tale that could only come from a rich culture. There was this sequence of nice well groomed European children through the ages getting nice gifts and it made me feel a bit ill. Apparently Santa's world only spread to Europe. Oh bloody hell I'm going to have to log off now, I think. I can feel an art wonk attack coming on.

@nonlinear_time: I don't live near there. It just symbolises some of my feeling about England. I need to get out of the city more really.

@rabbitdan: Lol. I don't think you're an arse! Not even a bit of one. Hopefully no one that knows you better laughs at that!

Hey, it's off topic and some of you may be fed up of the sight of him by now but for those of you who aren't, my housemates just made a short film of our very own canine fun factory Casper based on an old Guinness advert.
Here's the link: http://www.purpleflame.com/blog/?p=283
The loon rolling round on the beach is my housemate Phil btw.

@rabbitdan: Cute video. I like how he's wearing a wetsuit.

@rabbitdan: Re: Casper—never too much! Re: Chase your dreams in 2010—sounds like good advice! Unfamiliar with the Guinness ad in question, though some of the old posters are famous.
