I often do this at home, especially with wine thats leftover from some party and which I wouldn't touch cold ;-) Heat wine up in a pot just to boil very briefly - anything, even white wine is possible - and add cloves - 2 or 3 per cup are more than enough. Thats the basics. Add sugar/honey, cinnamon, Rum/amaretto if you like.

What a cute cup! Never had mulled wine... wonder what that's like. Now a good merlot, that's another matter. :)
